Hope you had a safe and happy New Year’s Eve, and are enjoying the Day today. Me? I’m just plopped on the couch watching college football. Tonight I’ll be headed out to Kick Butt Coffee for a special New Year’s Day open mic appearance with Joshua Piper at 7:30pm. If you are in town, and looking for something to do before work begins again tomorrow, you should come out. The coffee is strong, and the music is good.

I won’t bore you with New Year’s resolutions. I didn’t really make any this year – too much disappointment from falling short all the time. Perhaps the answer is to make more realistic goals, but I’d rather just keep trying my best day in and day out, and see what happens.

One thing 2009 will bring, though, is a new approach from me. Josh Piper and I are teaming up behind my music and looking for a solid drummer and bassist to form The Dave Ransom Band, or something like that. This could be big – I’ve got a really good feeling about the way this is starting, and the talent that Josh brings. Who knows? Maybe this is the start of something great.

Happy 2009, my friend. Whatever goals you are staring down this year, I wish you the best of luck and perseverance. And remember, start small and set your goals in progress, not perfection.
